Laconia Country Club has an incredible history of resilience which has defined the club's character for nearly a century.
Laconia Country Club, Incorporated was first established in 1922. The Lakes Region was a summer destination for the elite of Boston. Soon, however, people noticed the year round attraction of the area and fell in love with the golf course.
In the 1940's, the club declared bankruptcy. It was restructured and operations continued.
In the 1960's, a fire destroyed the clubhouse. The current clubhouse is built on a unique footprint, adding to the character of the club.
In the late 1990's, a two million dollar renovation was made to the golf course. The course became a challenge to low handicap golfers, while allowing beginners a beautiful landscape to learn. The 18-hole championship golf course is considered one of the most difficult State Amateur qualifiers while maintaining pristine conditions.
In 1998, Laconia Golf Club, Incorporated was founded. The golf course in Laconia became private in 2007. The membership felt so strongly about the course and facilities, they wanted to ensure it would continue to be the premiere country club in the Lakes Region.
